On the morning of December 16, members of the NeoGam forum just disclosed a number of new patents Nintendo has applied for Switch game consoles, one of which indicates that Swtich may support virtual reality functions.
According to the patent, Nintendo will turn the Switch into a large Daydream View or Gear VR-users can directly attach it to the eye mask and use the console's handle to control it.
However, since this is only a patent application document, there is no guarantee that Nintendo will provide virtual reality capabilities when the Switch is released in March next year. Nintendo may just be filing such a patent to avoid the deployment of a similar concept by rivals.
Still, the feature is very logical, and it's not difficult to add a basic virtual reality experience to the Switch. The only thing the outside world is currently worried about is the picture quality and processing power of this device: if the resolution of the Switch does not exceed 1080p and the CPU speed is not fast enough, it will be difficult to provide a satisfactory virtual reality experience.
