A strange patent filed by Ford in June 2015 was exposed. It describes a system that uses crowdsourcing technology to collect vehicle identity information. The sensor will be connected to a special processor, which can identify the identification information of vehicles including license plate numbers in the captured images. Moreover, the system will be connected through crowdsourcing (Crowdsourcing) networking. Once a request for information is issued, it will look for vehicles with matching information.
Although this system is intended to be used for roving stolen vehicles, vehicles connected to the system will start searching for vehicles and report the location to the police in real time. However, it sounds like "big brother is watching you". Once a powerful database is established, the police or criminals with ulterior motives can call this system to quickly locate the information of relevant vehicles, which may have a great impact on personal privacy and safety.
