Nanjing Hua News: A recent patent filed by Samsung shows that the company may develop a foldable flip phone.
According to Nanjing Hua News, the company is expected to release a flexible smartphone next year. While it is unclear whether the patent is the same as the device, it is at least possible.
This design can give a lot of interesting features to the smartphone. Fold the phone in half to enhance portability, and the curved screen design can also be more close to the cheek.
Samsung has tried flexible screens long ago. Although the Galaxy Edge series integrates a flexible screen under a hard body (users cannot bend the phone by themselves), Samsung still hopes to develop a phone that can be bent repeatedly or even folded in half.
This isn't the first time we 've seen a bendable screen. A Samsung patent filed last year also mentions a conceptual design that not only bends, but can even be rolled into a roll.
Mobile phones that can be bent, folded, and rolled need to overcome no small technical obstacles: not only the screen itself cannot be damaged during use, but the internal components must also be intact, at least in a part that will not be damaged.
So the question now is not whether Samsung is developing a bendable phone, but how long we need to wait to see the real thing.
Samsung declined to comment.
