According to Nanjing Hua Xun, the US Patent and Trademark Office has just passed a patent of Apple called "Power Management in Lost and Found Service", with the patent number No.9479920. This patent can help users recover lost items faster through digital positioning technology. According to the patent documents, this patent mainly describes Apple's hardware or software tracking tags added to users' items. These tags will periodically send positioning signals to nearby signal towers through low-power Bluetooth technology. The ideal range can be reduced to within a few meters. The location signal can also be customized to the label, such as "my backpack", in order to filter among the many lost items.
Apple said that after users lose an item, they need to register and fill in the label information of the item, and compare the label information in the database. For example, if "my backpack" is lost, after the user enters the tag information of the backpack, the technology will distribute the information to the nearby cell tower and infer the current location of the backpack based on the information.
In addition, when a user submits a request for a lost property search, the patent will automatically identify the lost items. When claiming an item, the user needs to provide information such as time, longitude, latitude, and altitude to prove that the item is lost by the user.
