Nanjing Hua News: it is simple to sue Apple for patent infringement, but it is not easy to win compensation. Ideas, a MobileMedia patent company in the United States, fought a lawsuit against Apple for six years before it came to a conclusion, and finally received $3 million in patent infringement compensation.
MobileMedia Ideas launched a patent lawsuit against Apple as early as 2010, claiming that Apple infringed 16 of its patents and demanded $18 million in damages. In the years that followed, there was only one patent (RE39231) infringement related to ringing (call mute), MobileMedia Ideas received only $3 million in compensation.
According to Nanjing Hua Xun, MobileMedia Ideas has the alias of "patent hooligan". It exists for the purpose of collecting patents. It does not produce any products or services. It has also taken HTC and Blackberry to court. Sony and Nokia also have shares in MobileMedia Ideas. Foreign media commented on the judgment, saying that the $3 million compensation is insignificant for a six-year lawsuit and will not affect Apple at all.
