Nanjing Hua News: Apple has been interested in developing MacBook to support the connection of mobile communication networks. Similar to the iPad and iPhone, such devices can bring mobile Internet access through LTE connectivity. Unfortunately, Apple engineers seem to have abandoned the project.
However, the latest patent application shows that Apple still hopes to provide continuous networking services through high-speed mobile communication networks.
The storage and processing circuitry can be used to run software on the device, such as Internet browsing applications, telephony applications, email applications, media playback applications, and VoIP and operating system functions. Communication protocols, such as IP protocols, wireless local area network protocols (e. g., IEEE 802.11 WiFi protocols), and other short-range wireless communication protocols, including Bluetooth, mobile cellular communications, MIMO, and antenna diversity, may be configured via the storage and processing circuitry."
According to Nanjing Hua Xun, the patent is still in the application stage. Even if Apple gets this patent, it doesn't mean that Apple will necessarily develop such a device. However, this shows that it is entirely possible for Apple to launch MacBook that can connect to mobile communication networks in the future.
