Nanjing Hua News: After reaching a patent license with Samsung Electronics, Ramzi, head of Nokia's patent licensing department, Haidamus announced his resignation. Haidamus Ramzi, 52, is president of Nokia's patent licensing division and new consumer product development. The unit also recently struck a deal with HMD Global, hoping to use the latter to bring Nokia back into the smartphone market.
Haidamus Ramzi said that given the progress Nokia has made, it is time for him to explore other opportunities and passions. Haidamus Ramzi was the head of Dolby Labs' patent licensing business before joining Nokia in 2014.
He left more than a month before Nokia and Samsung Electronics reached two patent licensing agreements, which will take effect this quarter. The two agreements are expected to boost Nokia's patent and brand royalties, which are expected to increase from 0.8 billion euros to 0.95 billion euros this year.
According to Nanjing Huaxun: Nokia said it has begun looking for a successor to the Ramzi Haidamus. Brad Rodrigues, who joined Nokia earlier this year in charge of strategy and business development, will temporarily assume the role of Haidamus Ramzi.
